20M went long and folded early. 40M was S9 thunderstorm static. 80M was totally useless here in the lightning capitol of the country. Ran the K2 at 5W. Per John's (K4BAI) report, I've recalculated my score since I did count mults per band originally. I've also requested a rules clarification from Larry, W2LJ.

AA4W, Rick Lloyd, 5     fpqso=40 fpdxqso=0 nonfpqso=8 spc=20 total=2560
My first contest with FP and it was GREAT fun! QRN from a storm that passed about 30 minutes before the start hurt 40 but I still heard more stations than I worked. See ya next month! RECALCULATED: After reading the posts by John (BAI) and Bob (BP) I also recalculated the S/P/C multiplier for my entry. I re-read the Rules and the instructions for the multipliers could be a little clearer. Rick AA4W

FT1000MP, 5W, TH6DXX, dipole, zepp. Multipliers for many of the posted scores seem too high. As it has been explained to me (by W2LJ), the multiplier total is counting each multiplier only once regardless of band. Larry said the rules might be clarified, but they still seem ambiguous to me. Anyway, my mult total is counted only once, not per band. QRN was bad on 40 and no stations were heard on 80. 20M was pretty good, but not too much activity there. Thanks for all the QSOs. 73, John, K4BAI.

W4QO, Jim Stafford, 5     fpqso=29 fpdxqso=0 nonfpqso=5 spc=20 total=1840
Lots of QRN it seemed. But lots of fun too. Single band - 40M RIG: FT-1000 ANT: 80M loop and 40M EDZ

Lots of qrn in Va.

Well, I cleaned up on TX tonight. Better results from the band this run even though didn't seem to be anything on 80. Ran my new K2 this month. This was it's maiden test. Thanks to everyone for tht fun and see ya'll next time. OO Jerry

I used my new K3 at 5 watts to a Force 12 Sigma 40XKR. 20 was pretty good, but 40 was very noisy here tonight. Thanks, 73, Dick, W0NTA

Elecraft K3 @ 5W. Fun! This sure was a lot better than last month. 20 meters was open to the east coast until about 0200Z. 40 meters was a lot tougher, and the only strong signal I heard was W5TM. It was great to hear so many stations on the air and I look forward to next month. 72/73, John, WA6L.

Running the KX-1 with the dual-band inverted V or 18AVT vertical - as cndx warranted. It was an even split on 20M and 40M with new calls like AA4W, and plenty of the usual piggies too! 72 & OO de Andy W5ACM

N9DD, Tom Frisz, 5W     fpqso=11 fpdxqso=0 nonfpqso=3 spc=11 total=396
This was my first RFTB. It was fun! It was nice to see some old, familiar calls. I was trying a new contest logger (N1MM)and had a few "issues." Overall though, things went OK. Not a great score, but fun. I'll be back! Tom, N9DD

K5BGB, Rod, 5W     fpqso=12 fpdxqso=0 nonfpqso=1 spc=9 total=333
Single band 40. QRN and noise in SE TX left my ears in pain! Ran K2 @ 5W to a stealth NorCal dipole.

KA2KGP, Tom Perry, 5     fpqso=13 fpdxqso=0 nonfpqso=1 spc=8 total=320
Finally, 20m. was in great shape & worked 7 piggies there. Still a lot of summer-static QRN on 40m. from passing storms. Nice turnout from the pigpen. OO to all!

WB8ICN, Mikey, 5     fpqso=13 fpdxqso=0 nonfpqso=1 spc=7 total=280
Had a ball on 20 mtrs...switched to 40 and lasted about 15 minutes (QRN and my arm). Had to put the arm back in the brace and then into the sling (should have messed up the other arm). I worked AA4W with the FP#2001 - that was a treat. Over 2000 piggies out there. Fun time...thanks to all. oo's....Mikey

Missed first 40 minutes of the Bacon Run because I FORGOT!! Only 2 stations worked on 40, rest on 20. Ant is 20 foot of hookup wire with a rock tied to the end, thrown into a tree out my window. Next month I will try to remember so I can start on time! :) Thanks for the fun and 72 to all! John N6HI http://members.cox.net/jrehak/

Started out on 40 no luck switched to 20 where condx were much better. I was using my ATS 3A powered by a 9v battery which gave me about 5w to a tribander @25' along with a whiterook MK-44 paddle. This was my first RFTB and I had a ball. It amazes me how well this little rig works. See you guys again !

40 was almost too noisy to work here on the Tx coast.

K2 @ 5wts + 20M vertical/40M dipole; Had to work hard for all 8 of the QSOs! Strong QRN (S7/8 on 40M)here in NTX. However...after missing the RFTB for several months while distracted at work...it felt really great to get back in the hunt!

N5KIP, Dick, 5w     fpqso=9 fpdxqso=0 nonfpqso=0 spc=6 total=162

K2 @5w, 40m EFHW. Thunderstorms limited operating here to short spurts but still fun as always. Looking forward to the next one. BR.

Boy what fun! Used my MFJ 9040 and Emtech ZM-2 to a random wire on my 20ft fishing pole in the back yard. Key was my Vibroplex bug. I had a BLAST! It got dark, damp, and buggy out there! 40M was pretty noisy as it seems it was for everyone. Thanks for a great night!!!

WA3ZBJ, Don, 5W     fpqso=6 fpdxqso=0 nonfpqso=1 spc=6 total=114
Limited time for "the Run" tonight, but still had fun. Lots of noise on 40 tonight but some strong signals. Heard W4QO on 80, but he didn't hear me. Heard N6PIG on 40, but couldn't hear me. :-( Is 5 watts enough power for a QRP contest? See you next time. 72/73 ... Don

WA8HSB, John, 5W     fpqso=7 fpdxqso=0 nonfpqso=0 spc=5 total=105
Started late so missed 20m before it went long and 80m was dead here in Mobile but, 40m was busy and noisy. Used my K1 @ 5W and 18AVQ Vertical until I wanted to check 80m. Hooked up my KX1 @ 3W then and finished the RFTB with it. Thanks to all!! 72/73, John WA8HSB OO

This is my second RFTB and I think I'm actually starting to figuring out this CW stuff :) Great fun, although my ears are still ringing from 40 a little bit...

kf4krv, Ed, 4     fpqso=4 fpdxqso=0 nonfpqso=1 spc=4 total=52
Ouch! I gotta practice up on my code speed, ya'll are some fast piggies! Made my contacts in the last 45 minutes more or less...all on 20m. Basically all my contacts were weak signal...band was shutting down. Longest contact was probably MT which was the weakest *and* most memorable!!! Enjoyed my first RFTB...will be back next month. :)

Started 35 minutes late; used rig at field day and had to quickly connect everything. (8minutes) 40M was to noisy to hear stations on. Was suprised to hear so many stations on 20M. Next time I will be on earlier. Rig K2. antenna TH7DXX.

Worked less than an hour, company came in...also much qrn here..managed to get W4QO, KB9BVN, W9ILF, and K4BAI before pulling the plug. Heard several more calling but couldn't get back to the radio to try and answer...random wire antenna up about 30' running off back deck..my 5 watts needs a better antenna for sure...

kg4byn, Ben, 5W     fpqso=1 fpdxqso=0 nonfpqso=0 spc=1 total=3
conditions in tennesee were pretty bad - again - for my 2nd try at the rftb. then again, i was using the k1 with an indoor wire. 20m was ok "fairly" early on, but missed a good exchange with bob, n4bp (on 20m). he was a tad too fast for me, but thank you for trying, bob! you had a great sig! otherwise, i might have had a whopping TWO whole contacts, hihi. hey, at least i'm trying. mainly worked 40m, but had alot of noise from tva's wonderful power lines, coupled with band conditions out here. still had alot of fun, however. the big challenge was trying to pull qrp ops out of the garbage on my end.
